This experience of living, planning, worshipping, playing, and fellowshipping together is an integrated program of Christian community living in action. Many Christian educators have claimed that a week of camp is equivalent to a year of Sunday School education. At camp we have the privilege of having your child 24 hours a day for several days together. The campers are accepted for exactly who they are and artificial barriers such as what part of town you live in become equalized as everyone is treated the same, sleeps in the same type of cabins, eats the same food, and enjoys the same activities together. It's an environment that brings out the "real you" because being together so many hours a day gives opportunities to grow in community living, kindness, honesty, meeting a challenge, sharing, teamwork, and self confidence.
I've been the Executive Director/President at Jumonville for 22 years. Before coming to Jumonville, I was a school teacher for 10 years. During that time I also led school camping programs and got to see what a powerful educational tool camp can be and how successful camping programs can be in the area of building a student's self esteem and confidence. Since camp is such a great tool for education, just think how effectively it can be used to help children, youth, and adults to be introduced to Jesus for the first time or to grow closer in their walk with Christ. How exciting to be a part of this training for eternity!
I invite you to try Jumonville for your summer camp and to become a part of the Jumonville family on this special mountain top. We've been in the ministry of Christian camping for over 60 years, and we have a wide variety of programs for you to choose from. See for yourself the results that can come from planning a part of your child's development at Jumonville.
Take a look, you'll find that camp's not just for kids anymore. Join us in '2005!
